"If it's one lesson my experience with the carnage of addiction and mental illness has taught me: there has to be one, trusted, independent source that explains all the treatment options available when you are at your most vulnerable time."
Neal Nordlinger, Founder, inCrisis Consultants
Most likely you are reading this because you or your family are in crisis due to drug/alcohol addiction and/or mental illness. You are probably experiencing one of a thousand nightmares: your loved one is in denial and won't admit to having an addiction...he/she is under arrest and in jail...is in the emergency room due to an overdose or substance-related injury...needs your help, but you don't know what to do. Plus, in the next few hours and days you need to make decisions on a myriad of crucial issues:
Are you a parent enabling your loved one’s addiction because you are incapable of cutting them off?
If your loved one is in jail, should you leave him/her there or post bail?
Do you know a criminal defense lawyer you could call right now? Can you afford one?
Does your loved one want to go to treatment or is an intervention necessary?
Out of the hundreds of ads and Google listings for treatment programs, which ones actually deliver what they promise?
Is there a diagnosis? Substance abuse? Mental disorder? Both, which means a Dual Diagnosis?
Do you even know where to start in determining which rehab is the right one?
What’s its licensure?
What is detox? How long does it take?
What’s the difference between 30, 60, 90, 120 days of treatment?
What is RTC, PHP, IOP, OP, MAT, Sober living and why should you care?
Is there one place for all the treatment or do I need a combination of inpatient and outpatient facilities?
Will my insurance cover treatment? What if I don't have insurance? How do I get it?
What can I afford: self-pay, payment plan, sliding scale per my income?
What if I cannot pay, are there programs still available?
Does it matter if the rehab is local or out-of-state?
Which one has a bed available now?
There are over 14,000 drug treatment programs in the United States. Can you name the one right for you or your loved one?
